2010/2011 Session starts

Normal weekly BB meetings will resume on Thursday 9th September as the 2010/2011 session beings. As is normal for this time of year, we will again be back in uniform. The times for each section have changed, to see them please click the 'Read more' link below.

Joint Summer Camp 2010 - Milton Hall

Teaser imageIn addition to our annual Summer Camp at Llandudno in May, we also held a Joint Summer Camp with 1st Kidderminster in July. We were originally planned to return for the second time to the Far Forest Centre (shown right) in the Wyre Forest, where we held our Easter Camp for the first time this year - however the Centre was not available at the time. Instead we held the Joint Summer Camp at Milton Hall Baptist Church, the home of 1st Kidderminster.

Awards Evening 2010 - United Church

Our annual Awards Evening was by taken by Steve Bentham on Thursday 15th July at the United Church, Lye. Every member of the Company was recognised in some way for their service and loyalty to the Company, Brigade and Church throughout the last 12 months. Iliffe was happy that parents and any other family members were able to come along and support members when they received their awards.

Queen's Badge District Presentation 2010

Queen's Badge ThumbnailOn Sunday 4th July, after over a year of work and preparation (including the Seniors Challenge 2009 and the completion course) our five Queen's Badge candidates were joined by fellow candidates from 1st Kidderminster, and other companies from across the West Midlands district and beyond along with many officers and parents at the Methodist Church on Stratford Road in Shirley, Solihull for the presentation of their Queen's Badges.

Summer Camp 2010 - Llandudno

From Saturday 29th May till Friday 4th June the Junior, Company and Senior sections of the 1st Lye company made a return to the much enjoyed Llandudno. Illife was able able to book the same Church we have stayed in previously, as well as a mini-bus. There were a number of activities planned for each day.

Tea and Biscuits Evening 2010

On Thursday 29th April, members, their families and others were invited to a Tea and Biscuits evening held at the United Church, in place of the normal brigade session, in order to raise money for Church Together in Lye. Refreshments were on sale and various activities such as bowling (in the cellar) will he held.

Battalion Competitions Day 2010 - Carters Lane

On Saturday 24th April Company, Senior and NCO members of the 1st Lye company attended the annual Worcestershire Battalion Competitions Day at Carters Lane Baptist Church in Halesowen.

Queen's Badge Completion Course 2010

From Friday 16th till Sunday 18th March, five Seniors from 1st Lye and four Seniors from 1st Kidderminster joined others who've been working towards their Queen's Badge from companies across the West Midlands district (including both the Worcestershire and Birmingham battalions) and beyond, at Felden Lodge in Hertfordshire, the National Headquarters of the BB in the United Kingdom, for their Completion Course.

Easter Camp 2010 - Far Forest Centre

From Friday 2nd till Tuesday 6th April, Junior, Company & Senior members of the 1st Lye company joined members from 1st Kidderminster company for our annual Easter camp. This year however saw the end of our tradition of holding the camp at Cooper's Mill in the Wyre Forest due to a frozen water pipe having exploded, flooding the centre and closing it indefinitely, until large amounts of funding can be found.

Easter Holiday and change to Company section ending time

Thursday 1st April will be our last meeting before we break up for the Easter break; this night will also be Maunday Thursday, and as such members will be holiding a short Service & Communion together, and the meeting will finish at the earlier time of 20:00 (rather than 21:00). UPDATE: Uniform isn't needed for this meeting, as those going on the Easter Camp will be packing it for that.

We will resume after the break on Thursday 22nd April - but it should be noted that Company (and Senior/NCOs) sections will from then on finish at 20:30 (rather than 21:00).
