News from Queen's Badge Candidates from 1st Lye and 1st Kidderminster planning, fund-raising and experience for their Seniors Challenge 2009.

Completion Course completed

Just a note that - as we first started the Seniors Challenge for the exploration part of our Queen's Badge - the four Senior members of 1st Kidderminster and the five Senior members of 1st Lye attended their Completion Course at Feldon Lodge - the national Headquarters of the BB - to complete their work towards their Queen's Badge last weekend. Please see the event page for more information on the Completion Course.

Seniors Challenge 2011

So there has been a great response about returning Scotland next year. It will be good to return and complete the sections that we missed due to weather mini-bus puncture and time I hope that next year we will have a even better time than we did in 2009!

Update: This wasn't to be, at least for 2011. But in 2012 a number of members from both companies will be taking part in a walk along the Pennine Way as part their Queen's Badge and charity fundraising - for more see the Peninnine Way Blog.

Seniors Challenge 2009 Video

Below is the video produced by Graham Knight and shown at the Seniors Challenge Evening, which follows the whole journey of our expedition with pictures and videos. The video is split into two parts on YouTube, which can both be found below.

It is Finished!

So we've finished. We did it. 95 Miles - 5 Days and Up & Down Ben Nevis

Everyone has travelled oever 100 miles in the past week which is an amazing achievement even if I do say so myself! Being able to say that you have been to the top of the UK is quite a talking point really and i'm sure this Challenege will be remembered in years to come! smiley

Also it was not just a physical journey but a spiritual one all the same - Daily devotions led by Jon Salter & Rob Clarke certainly helped strengthen my relationship with God and I'm sure im not alone! So thanks guys! yes

I'm fairly sure that everyone who came along enjoyed themselves throughly - Even with all the rain, midges and many miles walked it was an amazing experience for everyone.

Finally I want to say thanks to all the staff and lads who made my week one of the best weeks I've ever had!

P.S Also there was a suggestion of a repeat event. Hmmm I think Jake might have something to say about this cheeky

The fifth day

Today we packed up our tents, and headed down to Fort William where we picked up some supplies before headed to the Glen/Ben Nevis visitors centre from where we walked up to the very top of Ben Nevis, taking about five our on the ascent and four hours on decent.

Having sucesfully completed Ben Nevis, we then headed back to Fort William, where we met the nice folks at a Church, the hall of which we were to spend to night in and then headed to a local Chineese for a 'victory meal' kindly paid for by Tom Russell.
